Tomorrow, Tuesday, engineers from Electricity North West will begin replacing several underground electricity cables stretching 0.3km along Nook Lane.
The work, which will benefit more than 4,000 customers, will see cables which have been in place since around the 1950s replaced by new updated larger electricity cables.
Engineers decided to carry out the work now after issues with the existing cables caused recent power cuts in the area.
Paul McMahon, who is overseeing the work in Golborne for Electricity North West, said: “As the power network operator for the North West, we want to provide the very best service to our customers.
“We recognised a fault on the underground network in Golborne and made the decision to carry out this work straight away.
“We’re investing £30,000 which will see engineers replace several underground electricity cables and the work will help reinforce the power network in Golborne.
“I want to thank the people of Golborne for their patience and support as we carry out the work on Nook Lane. Power cuts can happen for a number of reasons, some of which are outside of our control, but this work will help make supplies more secure in future and allow us to restore power more quickly if there is a fault elsewhere on the network.”
A lot of the work will take place in grass verges and towards the end of the project, temporary traffic lights and a road crossing across from Nook Lane to Stonecross Lane will be used which will allow engineers to carry out work safely.
The project is expected to be complete in two weeks.
