Thirty-seven new starters have embarked on their early careers journey with power network operator SP Electricity North West.
The large cohort have recently completed a two-week introductory period which involved team-building activities, welcome events and structured sessions on the scheme.
Twenty eight apprentices and nine graduates will now split time across one of the organisation's regional depots and its state-of-the-art Training Academy in Blackburn where they'll take part in a programme that will lead them into various operational and supporting roles managing the power network, keeping the power flowing and supporting the region's continue clean growth.
Stephanie Trubshaw, SP Electricity North West's chief operating officer, said: "As we continue to drive for sustainable green growth, investing in the next generation of talent has never been more important.
"Apprentices and graduates bring fresh perspectives, new skills and innovative thinking needed to help the business meet the challenges of a transition to a greener future.
"Our investment in the North West's power network is only increasing year-on-year. By creating long-term career pathways, we are not only developing future industry talent but also ensuring we have the skilled workforce required to deliver long-term green growth."
The latest intake of new starters were selected from a record-breaking 2,200 applications received earlier this year.
More than 100 apprentices are within the business at various stages of their apprenticeship career. Since SP Electricity North West launched its apprenticeship programme, more than 250 have been trained and developed by the business.
"We're absolutely delighted to welcome our latest cohort of apprentices and graduates to the business," added Chris Havard, apprenticeship programme manager at SP Electricity North West.
"As a business, we're incredibly proud of our apprenticeship programme and the opportunities it creates for people to build rewarding careers while gaining valuable skills and experience.
"Over the last eight years, all apprentices that have qualified have been offered a full-time role with the business and accepted.
"Given the success of the apprenticeship programme, we're now utilising those learnings and expanding these into a new and enhanced graduate programme. We're excited things are underway and I've no doubt our latest intake will have a successful future."
