Almost 2,000 Macclesfield customers set to benefit from power upgrade

Engineers from the region’s power network operator will soon be starting a major £500,000 project to upgrade the power network in Wildboarclough, Macclesfield in the Peak District National Park.

Electricity North West will start to install 2.3km of new and efficient underground electricity cable this week (14th July) which will ensure that power keeps flowing, phones are fully charged and the box sets are streaming for almost 2,000 homes in the area.

Tom Woolley, secondary network south programme manager for Electricity North West, said: “Electricity is often taken for granted and it is something we all rely on for every aspect of our daily lives.

“This is why we are proud to be working and investing in this essential upgrade project to ensure local customers continue to get the power they need and when they need it for years to come.”

To allow engineers to carry out the work safely traffic management will in place on Byron Lane (A54), Jarman, London Road and Trinity Lane. Work on the crossing of London Road will be carried out on the weekend of the 14th July 2018. Through traffic to Byron Lane and Jarman will be closed from the 25th July 2018 until mid October 2018 with traffic marshalls controlling access for residents and business.

All traffic management has been agreed with Cheshire East Highways and the flow of traffic will be monitored with full diversion routes signposted.

Residents will see engineers in the area and the work will be completed by November. If customers have any queries about the project, they can call Electricity North West on 105 or follow @ElectricityNW.
