The latest flexibility requirements at Electricity North West are now available with the power network operating calling for 1097 megawatts (MW).
The tender is the twelfth in the business’ history and the latest call becomes the largest in its history, surpassing October’s call for 1025 MW.
More than £10m is being made available for the provision of the services across 32 locations within its operating region. The call for power will see nine per cent of Electricity North West’s primary substations involved.
Lois Clark, DSO Commercial Manager at Electricity North West said: “Over the next five years we will see an increase in the requirements for flexibility and energy efficiency across the North West to accommodate more low carbon technologies such as electric vehicles and heat pumps.
“We’re proud to have opened our flexibility service tender process to energy efficiency schemes, delivering an opportunity that provides benefits to the local power network as well as flexibility providers whilst supporting our region’s commitment to reaching net zero at the lowest cost to our customers.”
The latest tender is being conducted via the PicloFlex platform and potential providers are encouraged to sign up using the Dynamic Purchasing System, register their assets and complete the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire by Friday, June 23rd. The bidding window will then open on July 10th and close on July 21st.
A webinar is also being held on Thursday April 20th from 10am until noon where interested parties will be able to learn more about the latest requirements. People will also have the opportunity to find out more about Electricity North West’s forecasting and how to participate in flexibility tenders. To sign up, visit here.
