Electricity North West has released its second, enhanced Distribution Network Options Assessment (DNOA).
The comprehensive report provides deeper insights into the optimal use of flexibility services and conventional network reinforcement to meet future network capacity requirements.
New to this year, Electricity North West has introduced a dedicated focus on stakeholder personas, making the DNOA more useful and accessible than ever before.
Ben Grunfeld, strategy and growth director at Electricity North West said: “Our new and enhanced DNOA marks a significant step forward in our mission to enhance transparency and drive forward a more sustainable, flexible network.
“The focus on stakeholder-centric insights ensures that this document not only outlines our strategies but also empowers stakeholders to integrate these insights into their decision-making.”
Electricity North West’s DNOA is the third in a series of publications designed to enhance transparency and inform decision-making.
Each year, the power network operator releases the Distribution Future Electricity Scenarios (DFES), which outline future demand and embedded generation forecasts.
These forecasts then inform Electricity North West’s Network Development Plan (NDP), which details network impact assessments, asset solutions, and flexibility service requirements to meet future demand and generation.
The DNOA builds on the NDP and offers refined insights, and critical assessments of network options, highlighting where flexibility services can be leveraged to improve cost efficiency and timely release capacity.
People who may benefit from the DNOA include firms such as the National Electricity System Operator (NESO), Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNO), distributed generation (DG) and battery storage developers.
The 2024 DNOA publication reaffirms Electricity North West’s dedication to fostering an energy system built on transparency, adaptability, and innovation.
