Engineers from Electricity North West have now restored power to all but a handful of customers across the North West (19:00 update)

Despite the difficult conditions teams from the network operator have restored power to around 18,000 properties since yesterday.

Only a handful of properties now remain without power due to weather-related faults. Engineers have restored supplies to the final 58 properties in Kirkby Stephen, one of the largest areas affected by the severe weather. Network repairs will continue into the evening and tomorrow.

Chris Fox, control room manager for Electricity North West, said: “We understand this has been a difficult time for those customers who have been affected. Our teams have done a great job to restore power in these conditions and I'm pleased that power has been restored to most. I'd like to thank customers for their patience during this time.

“There may still be damaged equipment which needs repairs. If you see any fallen power lines please stay away and report them to us straight away.”

While the weather may have improved, we are here 24 hours a day seven days a week so please contact us if you need any advice or information.

If you see power lines down please stay away and report it to Electricity North West on 0800 195 4141, or by calling the new national power cut number, 105.
