Since the storm hit last night, bringing severe gales and heavy rain, engineers have restored power to more than 6,000 customers and they will restore the final 653 customers by 6pm tonight.
Electricity North West have proactively contacted 23,000 customers on their Priority Services Register and handled more than a thousand calls direct from customers.
Samantha Loukes, incident manager for Electricity North West, said: “Our engineers have battled some atrocious weather conditions last night and again today and I’m really proud that we’ve been able to restore power to more than 6,000 properties since Storm Gareth first battered our region.
“The weather has caused further faults today, but thanks to the commitment of our teams I’m pleased to say that we’ll get the remaining customers back on by 6pm today.
“I would like to thank our customers for their patience and support today, and again our teams for pulling together to respond in tough conditions.”
Electricity North West is urging people to stay safe and if they see any damage to overhead power lines to stay away and report it straight away.
