Electricity North West engineers have continued to battle the elements overnight and have restored supplies to a further 1,000 customers across the region.
The region’s power network operator has now restored supplies to 21,250 properties as Storm Emma brought strong winds and heavy snow to the region.
Engineers have been out since first light again and will continue to work throughout the day where it is safe to do so, to restore supplies to the remaining customers.
Chris Fox, incident manager for Electricity North West said: “Our engineers have continued to battle elements overnight to restore supplies to a further 1,000 customers. We have 400 engineers focused on this again today, with teams out since first light. Although there is a risk of further snow today, we are hopeful that the high winds will drop allowing access to damaged overhead lines, and our teams to climb poles to make the necessary repairs.
“Good progress has already been made with great support from the emergency services, local authorities and additional support from the distribution network operator in the North East. We would also like to thank customers for their continued support for our teams on the ground too during what we know is a difficult time for them.”
Latest restoration numbers:
- 8,000 properties in Cumbria restored with 250 remaining
- 6,200 properties in Lancashire restored with 600 remaining
- 7,250 properties in the Peak District restored with 150 remaining.
