Hundreds of pounds raised for Alzheimer’s Society

Kind-hearted colleagues from the region’s power network operator have raised hundreds of pounds for charity.

Following months of fundraising by the Human Resources (HR) team at Electricity North West, £774.13 has been donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.

The team, which consists of 24, carried out a range of activities including, cake sales and dress down days as well as colleague donations, raffling off a Christmas hamper and selling goods from the HR tuck shop.

Alzheimer’s Society was unanimously chosen by the team due to the great work it carries out.

Electricity North West’s specialist decision-making team also donated £170 to help top up the funds after receiving several nominations.

Claire Nicklin, People Services administrator at Electricity North West and who also headed up the fundraising, said: “I’m over the moon with how much money we have raised for such a tremendous charity.

“We’ve only been raising money for a few months, but the response has been magnificent. Colleagues throughout our depots have rallied around and supported a wide range of activities we’ve carried out including cake sales and raffles.

“Alzheimer’s Society is a special charity which carries out great work for people with dementia and their carers. Donations are key to helping charities fund research projects and provide valuable support and I’m really pleased Electricity North West has helped contribute.”

Alzheimer’s Society is the only UK charity that campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia today.

Founded in 1979, the charity assists people with dementia and their carers throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland while it has sister charities in Alzheimer Scotland and Alzheimer Republic of Ireland.

Roz Lytham, Community Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in Cheshire said: “We are extremely grateful to the Human Resources team at Electricity North West, for all of the time and energy they have put into raising this money for Alzheimer's Society.

“We’re facing an incredible challenge: one person every three minutes develops dementia and there is no cure. We’re here to change that but we need more people like Electricity North West to join us as we take on dementia together.”
