Businesses are being offered free expert advice from industry leaders on how to save energy, reduce costs and reduce carbon emissions at a free event on 27th October.
The event is hosted by network operator Electricity North West and local chambers of commerce, and is taking place at AMRC North West, Samlesbury Aerospace Enterprise Zone. It will give firms the chance to hear from industry professionals and businesses already on their net zero journey, to find out what help and support is available locally.
Delegates will also be given an opportunity to see close up, and test drive, a range of popular electric vehicles (EVs) and find out more from a range of EV charging, energy efficiency and low carbon technology suppliers.
Speakers on the day will include Jonny Sadler, strategic decarbonisation manager at Electricity North West, Lancashire County Councillor Shaun Turner, Miranda Barker OBE, CEO of East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Melissa Conlon, commercial director at AMRC North West and Paul George, commercial manager at Drax.
Jonny Sadler said: “With the climate emergency, energy crisis and the impending deadline of 2030 for the ban of new petrol and diesel cars, Lancashire businesses are under increasing pressure to address and navigate a growing list of challenges.
“There are many benefits of change, like saving money and lowering your environmental impact, but it can be difficult to know how and what to prioritise. The 2030 deadline, for example, means businesses need to urgently put in place a plan to electrify their fleets and extend car schemes to include more EVs, and there are big financial savings to be made in doing so.
“As the region’s network operator, we’re in a great position to share impartial advice to support businesses. This event is a great opportunity for businesses to get practical answers from our experts, to try electric vehicles for themselves, talk to suppliers of low carbon technologies, and hear how to save money while making rapid progress on their journey to net zero.”
Miranda Barker, OBE said: “I’m delighted to be supporting Electricity North West, not only in hosting this event, but in linking Lancashire firms to support from our own sustainability team and all of Electricity North West.
“At this time of mounting bills, it’s vital that all our businesses work to drive energy efficiency, reduce their electricity use and reduce their environmental impact. Right now, it’s not just a matter of climate, but about business survival too. The event is a fantastic opportunity for enterprises across the county to network with those who can support that journey locally – it’s never been more important”.
The event is being delivered in partnership with AMRC, Chamber Low Carbon, East Lancashire Chamber, North and Western Lancashire Chamber, Let’s Experience Electric, Lancashire County Council and Boost and will run from 9am to 12pm on Thursday, 27th October, at the AMRC Building in the Samlesbury Aerospace Enterprise Zone.
Places at the event are limited so anyone who is interested in attending is urged to book their place now here.
