Homes and business across Little Hulton are one step closer to benefitting from a stronger, more resilient power network.
SP Electricity is well under way with the major infrastructure upgrade as work has progressed to the next stage.
The region's power network operator is investing £1.2m which will see 4km of new underground electricity cables installed.
Once complete, the new cables will provide huge amounts of additional capacity on the network, enough to power the equivalent of 2,000 homes and businesses.
Vincent Cranny, head of capital delivery at SP Electricity North West said: “I’m pleased to say we’ve made excellent progress on a project that will deliver long-term benefits for communities across Little Hulton.
“The work we are doing will strengthen the local network and ensure it is ready to support increasing demand for electricity for years to come.
“Investment in the network is vital to enable more homes and businesses to install solar panels and electric car chargers to save money.”
SP Electricity North West has now completed the underground duct installation, which is what the cable will sit in.
The power network operator will work closely with Salford City Council and Bolton Council to coordinate the timing and delivery of the next stage of the project, to pull the new cables into place, ensuring disruption is kept to a minimum.
