Power operator urges Pokemon players to stay safe

The region’s power operator, Electricity North West, is urging Pokemon Go players to stay away from electricity substations and depots across the North West.

The augmented reality application, which has become a global phenomenon, sends players on the hunt to ‘catch’ virtual reality Pokemon on their phones. However, gamers must stay safe by keeping away from electricity substations and Electricity North West depots.

Vincent Cranny, head of health, safety and environment for Electricity North West, said: “The yellow danger of death sign is there for a reason. It is extremely dangerous to be anywhere near our substations or depots and it could prove fatal.

“We don’t want to stop gamers from having fun, but we urge them to stay safe by looking out for the yellow danger of death signs near our equipment and to stay safe.”
