• All properties affected by Lancaster substation flooding now restored
• Some properties may remain off supply due to other local issues such as flooding

Some local faults affecting a handful of properties may mean that a number of customers remain off supply. The University of Lancaster, four commercial properties and a handful of homes are still without power.

Customers who have had power restored are now being asked to conserve energy where possible to reduce the risk of further outages.

Mark Williamson, operations director at Electricity North West, said: "We've now restored the vast majority of homes and businesses in Lancaster although we are aware of some affected by local issues that remain without power.

"The substation is back online but not yet operating at full capacity. That means we need customers to conserve power as much as possible until we can fully complete repairs on the substation. We will provide further updates throughout the day."

Electricity North West engineers are continuing to work to get the substation back up to full capacity and aim to complete this essential work by late this evening.

Mark Williamson, added: "We know this has already been a very trying time for people in Lancaster and we are still doing everything we can to bolster supplies. In the meantime we ask that if you do have power, please use it sparingly and just for essentials until further notice."

Teams from Electricity North West are also working in Cumbria to restore power to the remaining 1,514 properties affected in the county after flooding cut power to a number of local substations.
