Electricity North West is leading the way to a low carbon future as the population of the North West is expected to grow by 10% over the next 25 years and demand for electricity in the UK is expected to increase significantly due to more and more people using renewable energy and low carbon technologies, such as electric cars and heat pumps.
The power network operator will showcase how it will power the Northern Powerhouse by leading the way in innovation which will benefit homes and businesses across the North West at the annual Low Carbon Networks and Innovation Conference held at Manchester Central this week.
During the three-day event there will be workshops and presentations on a number of themes, including the future of customer service and key innovation projects which will help reduce costs for customers and reduce the need to build costly new infrastructure.
Peter Emery, CEO for Electricity North West, said: “There has never been such an exciting time to work in the energy sector and we’re proud to be co-hosting the annual Low Carbon Networks and Innovation Conference with the Energy Networks Association.
“We have an excellent track record of innovation and the conference provides us with the opportunity to not only demonstrate our fantastic current and future plans for innovation, but also share best practice amongst other organisations within the industry, which are already adopting our innovative projects.
“The energy industry is changing and we are paving the way to ensure the essential infrastructure is in place to keep the lights on for our customers and also power a brighter future within the region.”
