Revolutionary low carbon project wins European award

This week Electricity North West’s £9m low carbon Customer Load Active System Services (CLASS) project won the Energy Revolution Award at the prestigious European Utility Industry Awards.

CLASS helps meet customers’ electricity needs at lower cost than current technologies. This will help reduce costs, lower carbon emissions and allow more renewable generation onto the network.

The European Utility Industry Awards recognise and celebrate individuals and projects that have shown outstanding commitment and accomplishments towards a sustainable energy sector.

Steve Cox, engineering and technical director for Electricity North West, said: “We’re delighted to win the award and to generate great recognition for our CLASS project not just nationally but on a European level.

“We are always striving to use innovation across our business to ensure that wedeliver great value for our customers and respond to their evolving needs.

“We are the leading network operator in innovation and we have a well established track record for innovation and receiving the Energy Revolution Award supports and helps build on this as we move forward.”
