Sport Relief call centre roaring success for power operator

The region’s network power operator, Electricity North West, volunteered to handle thousands of calls and take donations for Sport Relief on Friday night.

The company, which was also on hand last year for Comic Relief, transformed their Manchester city centre depot into a call centre where 60 volunteers from across the North West took calls and collected donations for the charity.

Since 2002 Sport Relief has raised over £262m for extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people to give a helping hand to turn their lives around and this year so far £55m has been raised.

Mark Williamson, operations director for Electricity North West, said: “Friday night was a huge success and it’s great that we could transform our Manchester office into a call centre again for the night.

“I am extremely proud to see so many of our employees from across 14 different depots across the North West including directors, engineers and office staff give up their time for such a great and worthwhile cause, the enthusiasm has been fantastic.”

The fun-filled evening, which ran from 6pm until midnight, was organised as part of Electricity North West’s fundraising efforts to help support the communities in which it operates.
