North West Storm

Engineers working into the night to restore customers following Storm Arwen (9:30pm update)

Since Storm Arwen battered the region on Friday Electricity North West has restored electricity to over 83,000 properties in the North West.

The treacherous conditions including strong winds and heavy snow have seen more than 700 separate incidents of damage on the power network, leaving 93,000 properties without power at some point across the North West.

Repairs to the power network include removing trees from lines, repairing broken lines and poles that have been damaged by flying debris and fallen trees.

Stephanie Trubshaw, Customer Director and Incident Manager for Electricity North West, said: “We understand this is an extremely difficult situation for all of our customers who have been impacted and we are working tirelessly to ensure power is restored across the region as quickly as possible.

“We’re thankful for the support of our partners for helping to arrange food and drink for residents and will ensure there is support in place until power is restored.

“We’re also working closely with local councils to assist vulnerable customers across the region.”

Customers are advised to check the website and social media for updates and advice, and only call 105 if the issue is urgent to help prioritise those who need help most, or to report dangerous situations such as fallen lines.
